How to change chat wallpaper on WhatsApp web

WhatsApp is one of the most widely used instant messaging apps and has almost 1.2 billion monthly active users globally. The instant messaging app provides users with the flexibility of sharing text, pictures, videos and files with their friends and family. 

Earlier this year, WhatsApp launched the desktop version of the app, dubbed as WhatsApp web. The web version of the app offers almost the same features as the app with a few limitations such as calling, but they have their own set of benefits too. 

WhatsApp web also packs some of the customisation features from the app, one of which is changing the chat wallpaper. If you are wondering on how to change the chat wallpaper on the web version, here's our ready-to-use-guide for you: 

First things first:

Active internet connection on both the devices (mobile phone and PC)

You must be running the latest version of WhatsApp (2.18)

WhatsApp web must be logged in into your computer

In case, you don’t know how to use WhatsApp on your computer, follow the steps: 

Open Google Chrome or any other browser and type ‘web.whatsapp.com’ in the address bar

Now, open WhatsApp on your phone and tap on the three-vertical dots

Select the option ‘WhatsApp web’ and scan the QR code showing on the browser

Coming back to changing chat wallpaper on the web version:

1. Open WhatsApp web on your computer and log in by scanning the QR code 

2. Click on the three-vertical dots from the right side of the profile picture 

3. Head to the 'Settings' and click on the 'Wallpaper' option 

4. Now, select the wallpaper of your choice and click on it 

5. Then press 'Ok' to change the background
